About This Project

“grow through, what you go through”

My sweat life: You’ll find me cycling around the city until the snow and ice hits the ground, not only great for the environment- but also a great way to sneak in a quick sweat! And if I’m not on my bike I’ll be hiking with my pup Jerry, doing Pilates, dancing to a new Barre sequence or fitting in a strength class!

What gets me out of bed? Puppies are great alarm clocks. But seriously though I became out of shape and lived an unhealthy life when I moved to Vancouver about 10 years ago. Until I discovered what my body felt like when I thought about what I ate and how I exercised! The human body is a beautiful and amazing thing- it’s incredible to see how it responds when we are good to ourselves!

Also the tribe that comes to Rio is special – the bonds and connections that have been formed during my time at the studio have been life changing! It’s a feeling that you don’t often get from larger cities it’s totally unique to the maritimes!

What to expect from my class: Expect to be challenged in a safe space, pushed by breath, music and movement. I don’t take life too seriously and my classes allow you to laugh and feel free to be yourself- while growing and feeling like a stronger version of yourself!

My fitness journey: Pilates and Barre instructor all trainings done through Rio, discovered my love of running in Vancouver living by the Sea wall and used the beaches and parks for body weight training, became a gym girl for a short while until I discovered my first barre class and was hooked! Moved back home to Halifax a few years ago and couldn’t be happier with how far Halifax has come and grown as a city.

Where you can find me: I work in the restaurant industry in the North End, so I tend to crave quieter wine drinking/ hangout spots in the city… like my condo! We love to cook, I have a passion for all things preserved and pickled and love using local Nova Scotian product for my jams and jellies! My lab puppy keeps me busy and you’ll often find us wandering the beaches and hiking in the woods! Nova Scotia is so beautiful – get outside!
